CJ Leary Wins at Montpelier
By Alex Wollf

CJ Leary won his third consecutive UMRA feature of the 2011 season on Saturday night at Montpelier Motor Speedway. After leading the earlier stages of the 20-lap feature, CJ lost the lead near the halfway point to Patrick Wolf but was able to retake the top spot a few laps later and never looked back. Wolf ended up second, Tim Lynch finished third, Chuck Leary was fourth, and Trent Henderson rounded out the top five. The eight-lap heat races were won by CJ Leary, Chuck Leary, and Tim Lynch.

As a result of advancing from 19th to 11th in the feature, rookie Cody Kiewitt won the $50 from the Tony Stewart “Smoke The Field” Challenge and is now eligible for the large cash prize at season’s end. Mechanical problems that prevented his #24 from starting the feature earned Brandon Ladyman the $50 for winning the Green-Tech Lubricants “Hard Luck” Award.

The next race for the UMRA comes on Saturday night June 11 at the Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Indiana.
